Season
Finale at winchester

(10-16-10)
The Reeser Racing Team finished it's 2010 season with a USA Modified
race at the famed Winchester Speedway for the annual weekend of the 400
race. With 46 cars total taking to the track for the 24 starting spots,
it was by far the largest, most competitive field modifieds of the
year. Due to so many cars practice was limited to 2 small sessions. "
It think we only got 3 hard laps the first session and 4-5 the second",
Scott said. "Normally, we would have gotten about 20-25 per session",
he added. Also due to the large number of cars, it was determined the
top 22 in qualifying would lock in to the A-main feature, along
with 2 provisionals. After practicing 21 fastest in both
sessions, the team knew they had a shot to lock in. Scott did not
disappoint improving from 30th on the first lap to 16th on the second.
"When Bill came across the radio with the time after the first lap, I
knew I had nothing to loose for lap 2," Scott said. " I drove it in and
it stuck., and we made it. With this many cars, a lot of good ones
didn't make it." In the feature, Scott started 16th and by
lap 8 had moved up to 12th and was challenging for a top 10 spot. Then,
a couple of cars got together and proceeded to hit the inside wall
toward the end of the front stretch. As Scott approached
one of the cars suddenly shot up the track. With no place to go,
Scott hit the car square in the passenger door resulting in the car
turning over on it's roof. I saw them get together and go low, into the
oil dry, "Scott commented. " I slowed to see where they were
going to go. I tried to go low, but there were cars already there.
Instead of wrecking them, I tried to go high. Unfortunately that is
where Jonathan ended up going, and I hit him, putting him on his roof.
The good thing is everyone was alright. It was the last race and I was
planning on redoing the front end anyway. And we were heading to the
front. Here's to next year".
Finally
a Finish at ORP

(9-18-10)
After repairing the car from yet another accident not of Scott's doing,
the Reeser Racing Team returned to ORP to compete with the USA
Modifieds. The field was strong with 29 cars looking to be one of the
24 starters. Scott and the team had good practice sessions
practicing 15th in each. "The track is a bit slower but we feel pretty
good about locking into the top 16", Scott said. During qualifying,
Scott picked up 2 tens of a second over practice. The middle of the
field, however picked up 3-4 tenths. Scott added, "We picked up,
but the car got real tight and wouldn't turn, not sure what happened".
This resulted in a 22nd fastest qualifying lap. As it put the team
outside the top 16, Scott would have to race his way into the feature.
Just before lining up for the B-main, it was found that the right rear
tire was low on air. Upon further investigation, a piece of wire was
found to have punctured the tire. The tire was changed just in time to
make it to the B-main starting grid. Having to finish in the top 6 and
starting 6th, Scott was able to move up to the 4th spot and secure
a starting spot. In the feature Scott started 22nd and was able
to pass a few cars and finished 18th. "We believe the tire was starting
to go down prior to qualifying, which explains why it changed so much
since practice", Scott noted. "But it ran well in the B-main and in
feature. We were run lap times close to the leaders. We were on used
warn out tires, and still were able to compete And best of all, we
finished a feature with no bumps or bruises".
ORP
Starts Bad, but Ends good

(9-11-10)
After taking a few weeks off and then repairing the car, the Reeser
Racing Team was back in action at ORP in Indianapolis, for the 9-11
Celebration Race. The car practiced well and it showed in qualifying as
Scott qualified 8th of 17, with his best time to date at ORP. The
ceremonies for the evening were next on the schedule with sky divers,
and a motorcycle ride just a part of it.
With the additional activities, only features were run. Scott
started 8th and was optimistic of his chances. "I felt like we had a
better car than we qualified and felt we would be strong in the
feature", Scott said. However, the optimism was short lived, however,
as 2 cars up front again got together in turn 3 of the first lap. Scott
was able to keep from hitting anyone, but in so doing, glanced of the
wall with the right front. This caused a bent rim and tie rod. Scott
was able to get the car to the pits, where Scott adjusted the front
end, while the team changed the tire. Scott said, "I was
frustrated to get involved in someone else's issue on the first lap
again. I was going to race". Returning to the track 5 laps down, Scott
proceeded to pass all but the top 3 cars. He added, "We were 5 laps
down, so with 5 laps to go, I pulled in to save on tires and gas. I
would have liked to have been competing for the win, but at least I was
able to compete. So while it started bad, it ended on an up
note".
ORP
Starts Good, but Ends badly

(7-31-10)
With some new found power under the hood, the Reeser Racing
Team was looking for a good showing at ORP in Indianapolis, IN.
During practice, Scott and the team continued to improve. "This track
is so different from anywhere else we run, that it takes a lot to get
it
dialed in." said the driver, Scott Reeser. The improvements
resulted in the fastest qualifying time ever at ORP for Scott and the
Team. "We're still down some in HP, but we are getting there", Tom
Reeser said. The heat race started with the fastest car on the pole.
"We ran with them, so we feel we picked up with some changes after
qualifying,", said Scott. We were looking forward to the feature.
The feature saw the pack enter turn one as a tight pack. Exiting
turn two, a couple cars got together setting off a chain reaction.,
that ended with Scott getting some air. " Normally
in racing, when someone says you were flying out there, it's a good
thing, but this time, not so much," Scott laughed." It hurt the car,
but we will get it
fixed and back out in time for the next race."
Dyno
Show's improvement in Horse Power
(7-28-10)
The Reeser Racing
Team took the Asphalt Modified to Cincy Speed to put the car on the
chassis dyno to see if it could find some more Horse Power (HP). After
more
than 2 hours and 10 pulls, the results were positive. "We found some
horse power, that's for sure", crew chief Tom Reeser said. "I'm not
sure that we made more, but we know where [what RPM] it's
making power", driver Scott added. "We hope this will show up in better
finishes in the future."
Soggy
Start results in Okay finish
(7-18-10)
The Reeser Racing Team made it's first trip to the high banks of
Winchester Speedway. The day started with an hours worth of rain. "It
rained so hard our chairs had 2 inch deep puddles in them" said crew
member Bill Chambers. Once the rain cleared, it made for a nice day of
racing. While the weather turned good, the results on the track were
not what the team had hoped for. "We just didn't get the speed we were
expecting", driver Scott Reeser said. " The car was just goofy in the
turns and our speed was down." The team qualified 18th out of 26. Due
to
the weather, the only race was the feature. With changes made after
qualifying, the car did run better. While battling for position Scott
was spun and had to restart on the tail. He was able to work his way
back to finish 12th. "While it is an O.K. finish, we had greater
expectations. We'll go through the car and be better next time", Scott
reassured his fans.
Small
Victories at orp
(6-19-10)
The Reeser Racing
Team finally made it’s way to O’Reilly Raceway Park in
Indianapolis this
weekend for an ARA sanctioned race. The day started off well for the
team, no
flat tires on the way to the track, no carburetor issues, and the power
steering worked. After spinning out during qualifications during the
last 2
races at ORP, Scott was able to keep it going the right direction and
qualified
12th of 17. “The car was loose all practice, and then
was real tight
during qualifications”, Scott said. “It was a handful down
the back stretch,
and we completed the lap, but we left a lot on the table”. During
the heat
race, Scott started 4th and despite the ignition shutting
off on the
first lap, he finished 2nd. The feature had similar results
with a
12th place start, and a 7th place finish. Scott
summarized the night, “We didn’t win the race, but after
all the issues we had
last year, we had many small, meaningful victories today”.
reeser
racing has a successful test
(6-17-10)
The Reeser Racing
Team was at Kil-Kare Speedway Thursday night testing for the
team’s first race
of the year. “We weren’t looking for speed, but just to
shake the car down”,
Tom commented. “ The purpose is to make sure everything works so
we have time
to correct it prior to race day”. It was a useful outing as small
issues with
the brakes and the carburetor were found. Scott added, “ On test
day, these are
no big things to fix. But on race day, these are the last things you
want to be
working on”. The Reeser Racing Team left with a happy conscience
and assurance
that nothing would go wrong.
2010
to Start June 19th at ORP
The June
19th ARA Race at ORP, will be the first race of the season for the
Reeser Racing Team Driver Scott Reeser said, "The car will be ready
prior to the ORP race, but we want to test first. We want to work out
all the bugs before race day." He added,"We made a lot of changes over
the winter and wanted to make sure it was done right, so it took a
little longer than anticipated".
2010
Preparations underway.
Preparations for the 2010 season are well underway for the Reeser
Racing Team. Along with the standard off season maintenance and
repairs, the team will be making some changes to the car in hopes to
enhance the performance for the upcoming season. "With the engine and
steering issues hopefully behind us, we can now concentrate on getting
the chassis to where we want it", driver Scott Reeser said.
Racing
in Nashville Cancelled, track to close.
The USA Modified officials announced it was
adding one more race to the 2009 season. The race was to be at the
Famed 5/8
mile, Nashville Speedway at the Nashville Fairgrounds. The track hosted
the
NASCAR Winston (Now Sprint) Cup races at one time. "It is one I my
favorite tracks to race on", said Scott. "It is fast, wide and real
racey. And to think, Richard Petty, Rusty Wallace, Bobby Allison and
Mark
Martin, among others, have raced here, it makes is a neat place. My
first
NASCAR short track race was here. Mark Martin sat on the pole," Scott
added. With the race being postponed due to rain, the Reeser Racing
Team had
the time it needed to make repairs and make one last race for 2009.
However,
this was not to be as track management would ultimately cancel the
event. It
appears that the track will now be closed down. Scott summed it up,
“It’s a
shame, it’s got a lot of history, and was still a great place to
race. It will
be missed”.
Reeser
Racing finishes the 2009 Season.
The 2009 Racing season is in the books for the Reeser Racing
Team. While the team did not have the results that they were hoping
for, the team was pleased with how the car ran at all the tracks raced.
Plans are already in the works for changes and upgrades to the car and
team for the 2010 season. The team would like to thank its sponsors
and all those who helped make 2009 a memorable season.
2009
Season Finishes on an up note
The
Reeser Racing Team finished its 2009 Season with a
trip to O'Reilly's Raceway Park, in Indianapolis. The day started out
on an up
note, when the troubles with the engine had finally been resolved. The
team was
finally able to concentrate on tuning the chassis. However, adjustments
made
appeared to be negated. A search for the issue resulted in finding a
suspension
nut that had come loose. The nut was tighten, but now the adjustments
the team
made had to be reversed. As the problem was found and corrected after
the final
practice session, the team was unsure exactly how the car would run
during
qualifying. The team soon found out, it was much looser than they had
expected
and Scott spun the car during his qualifying attempt. “I knew
it
was going to
be loose, by how it ran on the warm up lap. So I went in easy, and it
still got
out from under me”, said Scott.
The team
then set out to fix the damaged racecar prior to the heat race. After
lots of
work, the car was ready. While not as fast as the team would have
liked, it ran
well enough to give the team the information they needed for the
feature. Scott
started 14th
in the feature and was able to pass on the high
side
and low side, finishing 9th.
Scott summed up the night,
“While we
would have liked to finish higher, the car responded well to changes,
and ran
good all night. After the year we’ve had this will work. And
we
were on 4 flat
spotted tires. So all in all, it was a good way to finish our
season”.
labor
day
weekend, a true
weekend of labor
The
Reeser Racing Team was looking forward the 3-day weekend of racing at
the famed
high banks of Winchester Speedway. However, the relaxation of a 3-day
weekend
was short lived. The engine issues that have plagued the team all year
was
back. The team changed everything. “We changed the battery,
the
ignition box,
the ignition switches, the master disconnect, the fuel filter, the pick
up
cable plug, and 3 carburetors’, stated a frustrated crew
chief
Tom Reeser. “We
would have changed the paint scheme if we thought it would have
helped,” he
added. Adding to the frustration was the fact the car would only miss
in the
corners and would get worse as the day went on. “Each time I
got
out on track
for the first time for the day, it would run 5-10 laps fine. We kept
thinking
we had it fixed, only for the engine to start missing the next time
out”, Scott
added. Scott was able to lock in with a 15th
place
qualifying effort
on Sunday. After waiting through a rain soaked morning, Scott was able
to start
15th
in the feature. The miss would come back after lap 3,
and a
leaking powering steering tank, forced the team to retire, finishing 22nd
out of 24.
